Another Guild Disbands/Reforms to Shed Slackers

Karazhan has been an interesting addition to the World of Warcraft. Many say it's what splits out the Casuals from the Raiders, and while the Casuals were able to "tag along" to things like Molten Core and Blackwing Lair and Naxx if they joined a guild that had those instances on "farm status", they're finding the game has changed with regards to Karazhan and Serpentshire Lair (is that right? SSL, the 25-man).

Now, there's more cries of "elitism" in Officer and Raider teams, from the more casual side.

Now, there's more demands on individuals to gear themselves up appropriately using standard 5-man dungeons instead of hitting 70 and gearing up in the raiding instances with 9-39 other guildies, and the ones who have geared themselves up quickly are leaving the slower-advancers in the dust, feeling the need to shed "less productive raiders".

On the Realm forums for Undermine, there's an active thread about the guild "Insurrection" which has recently disbanded and its raiding core has re-formed under the guild tag of "Corrupted".

The original poster starts out like this:

Helen writes:
Some months ago i took part in a guild that once cared about people having a good time ,, and just having a place to go , to relax chill out ,, play a game ,, raid , or even just sit and converse with so called friends , i recently took a vacation to come back and see that everyone has lost sight of why lots of poeple pay to play this game.

and then others from the guild's past begin to pipe in:

Kuda writes:
I agree with you Helen and I think that you're right that Insurrection lost sight of all those things you hold dear. That's why I had to leave. It became too elitist and helping people was no longer and option for many of the members.

And some present members...

Cowboygeorge writes:
You cannot expect everything to be handed to you, and you cannot expect others to consider their definition of "fun" as raiding Tarren Mill. Didnt want to put it like this, but instead of just discussing this with people you proceeded to come onto the forums, so there you have it.

Ansible writes:
As for not trying to disprove or deny our problems: of course we aren't. Most of our problems stemmed from just the inclusion of certain members; people who needed babysitting, or who were't patient because they had no idea what organizing two raid groups takes, or who weren't proactive enough to do their own research and gearing up.

Go check it out for yourself, it's an interesting read and I'm sure will go on for a bit longer yet :)

The Challenge Of Running With Other Guilds

One of the sucky things about existing in World of Warcraft for some people is the fact that not everything can be done "solo". Sometimes, you need to get a group of people together and tackle content together.

It's great for people who are able to find reliable friends while also BEING a reliable friend. But of course, this is a Drama Blog, so folks hilighted here aren't likely to to be reliable friends and therefore they have troubles finding reliable friends. Tough cycle.

Here's some new drama that's brewing up on the (wrong forum) Guild Relations forum on the Official Blizzard discussion forums. You'll have to click through to the forum posting to read the original poster's entire initial post. For now I'll just give you a wee taste:

The rest of the guild in the instance noobed out as well and agreed that he should have it instead of me, A WARLOCK!.....Personally, I will never run with this bunch of noobs again, and I suggest the same for all of you.

Here's the entire posting - and as of this moment, one of the folks in the party with him has already posted information that the original poster neglected to mention... making this drama fest even more entertaining for us, the masses!

OMG! He helped me kill a bear! How RUDE!

This post on the Official Forums is labelled "Very Immature". I'm not sure if the Original Poster is talking about himself in the titling, or not. You be the judge:

Last night while I was playing I was doing a quest but thats not importen. While I was on the quest having sickness I deside just to let my pet do the kills for me cause for 10 mins I don't wanna wait lol anywho my pet was battling a ashvale bear almost dead then a player came along and killed it. I deside to msg him saying it was rude. Well I should of save the logs cause it would make anyone loose there hair what he said but ill try to remember.

me "That was rude you know"

him "Saving your life"

me "my pet almost killed the ashvale bear it didn't attacked me"

him "your that type that wants help and thinks you can tell people what to do but when people help you thats when you get mad:

me "your the type is a real jerk"

The 1000g Duel: Destromath on Alterac Mountains realm

This is a good one I found in one of the Realms forums on Blizzard's Official Discussion boards for the realm of Alterac Mountains. There's plenty of back-and-forth dramatic arguing from a few different players, obviously dragged into the forum discussions to defend their duelling epeens.

Here's how it all starts, with someone calling Destromath out for his "noobishness":

Dear Alterac Mountain Community,

Destromath is a complete noob. This kid challenged me to a 1000g duel, he was talking alot of garbage of course. So i decided to go ahead and do it up, Of course I won flawlessly (terrible warrior) despite the fact that he had 4 of is horde boyfriends jump on top of me mid fight.

This initial post comes complete with screenshots for those who like to see 'em. Destromath obviously has a notable history on this Realm, it's fun to read how all the information comes out.

You can read the whole discussion, and see if Destromath eventually pays his 1000g bet debt or not, by reading this discussion thread.

Guild "Romo" on Andorhal Realm

So, apparently on some Realms there are entire guilds who get off on griefing other players. Here's one that doesn't seem to behave in any kind of respectful manner when picking up non-guildies for dungeon pick up groups.

Here's one from the Andorhal realm:

One thing I've learned about :

Don't do an instance run with them when you're the only one not in .

They'll speak english to ask you to join, they'll speak english if there's more than one person not in their guild, but if you're the only one, they'll only speak spanish and roll need on EVERYTHING.

Ever had a run-in with these guys? Share your experiences on this Official forums thread.

Ninja looter: Saintfenix on Antonidas

Ninja looters, don't we all love 'em?

In low level dungeons (ie: RFK and below), ninja looting is often a case of misunderstanding by a new player. Folks who haven't had a "need or greed" box pop up before will make a logical leap that the "dice" is the right symbol to click on for rolling on something, but alas.... no, that's the "Need" button.

Eventually, everyone learns.

But, there are some who decide to abuse that Need vs Greed learning curve, especially in pick-up dungeon groups with complete strangers.

That's when something like this occurs and is posted to a Realms forum, outing a Ninja looter and often influencing his or her reputation on the realm with any "good" guilds:

i was doing Uldaman with 2 other of my guild (Forsaken Love), Throgg and Saintfenix where one of the drops was a piece of BoP blue item plate armor. only Throgg was a plate wearer, he picked greed still. yet saintfenix being a mage needed it. Then of course came the denial "oh whoops i though i picked greed". everyone is entitled to one mistake, so we let it pass.

After doing Archedas the main boss there was a chest... or more like all we saw is "saintfenix receives ". which obviously was from a chest. when told to roll for those he denies there was a chest and that they're quest items. after persisting 4 times with "did you loot a chest?" he doesn't answer but offers to give me the items instead. A ninja looter, a liar and also tries to buy me out.

Later i give a trade channel mention of him, and no surprise other people have heard of him before. About 15 minutes after I informed an officer of Dark Souls guild he gets kicked from it.

Master Loot Ninja Looter: Gorgor, Antonidas

Even better than a regular ninja looter who loots chests without rolling or rolls Need on things they obviously cannot use (often to the detriment of someone who CAN use it), is the party leader who switches looting to Master Loot in time for a boss to be downed, then ninjas the loot and leaves the group.

The moral of the story? Be careful who you give leadership to, and be careful who you follow when in a PUG doing Master Loot!

[pictures linked to in the official posting, check there]

Pictures sum it up.

Passed lead to him so he could mark mobs for pulls.
Right before we kill boss he puts it to ML and takes items and drops party.

Just an fyi.

Another guy not to party with in Antonidas I guess!

Guild Splits, Poaching of Players, Impersonation of Officers

Sometimes, when folks leave guilds or are removed from them, there's a tremendous amount of Drama that goes on. Threats, swears, crying, and other types of abuse seem to be "normal" and even "acceptable" to those on the leaving/gkicked end of the stick.

And then, sometimes folks take it a bit too far and bring their problems outside of the game by spamming and abusing folks out-of-game, and even impersonating others.

Here's a good one, from the realm of Anvilmar:

Hybrid's latest drama-fest being a case in point.

I washed the last of the Hybrid foolishness and silly egomaniacal attitude from my boots many months ago...no matter how many "friends" I left behind when I split. So please....no matter how butt-hurt any of you are by whatever the heck is going on with it now....don't mass e-mail everyone who ever wore the tag just because someone's panties are in a bunch. I am unbelievably and totally uninterested.

Tacky. Seriously.

P.S. I would have preferred to address this on the site forums, but seems those panties are *really* bunched up.

Check out the entire post, including explanation about abusive forum trolls on their guild forums and all sorts of fun stuff that happens when people get banned for being tards.

All Hail the Economy of the World of Warcraft

The economy is a fun topic on a game like World of Warcraft. In the General forums there's regularly discussions going on about folks who "overprice" or "underprice" things in the Auction House and how they're "affecting the economy" by doing so.

And let's not get into the whole circular problem that includes gold sellers - people buy gold because purchases are expensive on the server, and because there's more gold floating around in the Realm economy, things in the Auction House are more expensive. Round and round it goes.

In general, the economy is what the market will bear. If things are too expensive on a regular basis, it's either because others don't see it as "too expensive" like you do, or it truly IS too expensive and the price will naturally drop since buyers will not buy.

Here's a good Economy drama-fest from the Arygos Realm:

Economics. It's an easy word to spell, and to understand. With this being said, let's try as a new server to know and stand by certain rules of thumb. Let me be the first to ask that certain Alchemists do not charge 5g per Major Mana potion! And don't you realize that 3g for a Major Healing potion makes me want to kill kittens. Please, please, please.. do not start this on Arygos. Also, just because an item is glowing with purple happiness does not mean it is worth 1000g. Be real with your sales and the AH can be friends to us all. This is a new start for a lot of us and this is going to bring new items and loot to the AH. Let's all be realistic and we can all make a unified start to a realm that will certainly be filled with many ideas, types of players, and most of all, a ton of experience.

Hate if you must, but I am sure I speak for MANY other players as well.

I personally find the comment "Let's all be realistic" to be pretty funny. After all, as Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds taught us, there is no realism once a crowd is brought into play.

Check out the whole thread here.
